If you’re short on time and are after a mild walk with a glacial view, there are multiple to choose from, such as Canavans Knob Walk, Callery Gorge Walk, Fox Glacier South Side Walkway, and Franz Josef Glacier Walk. These short tracks take between 1-2 hours, offering stunning views while barely breaking a sweat.

One popular overnight tramp is the Copland Track, with the natural hot pools at Welcome Track an extra bonus. Welcome Flat Hut requires booking in advance, while the other is on a first come, first served basis. The best time of year to go is summer and autumn, as the track can often be closed due to flooding or damaged with sustained rainfall.
