Lake Hayes
Overview
A small lake located in the Wakatipu Basin in Central Otago, Lake Hayes was originally known as Hays Lake after D. Hay, an Australian who came to the district looking for sheep in 1859.
Arrowtown rests near the shores of this stunning lake, a quaint little town where you can grab a pie from the ever-popular (and busy!) bakery and eat down at the lake. A magnificent lake that looks incredible under any sky colour is truly worth a visit, the mirror like clarity of the lake makes it a truly breathtaking scene.
