Coopers Beach in the beautiful Doubtless Bay is one of the safest beaches in the Far North. Coopers Beach is 2.5 km (1.6 miles), laden with coastal Pohutukawa trees strewn across the shore-line offering shelter amongst its red-emblazoned flowers. This family-friendly beach is perfect for picnicking, swimming in its safe waters, running, walking or strolling along, and lazing on the safe uncrowded sandy beach. Stroll to the Taumarumaru Reserve (22ha) and enjoy views of Doubtless Bay with over 70 km (43.5 miles) of un-spoilt Pacific Ocean coastline and warm a sub-tropical climate. The Reserve is on a steep headland which holds three historic defended Pa’s (forts), eight terraces, storage pits and garden sites. Pa’s were strategically built with the sea, river or swamps as natural barriers. The Ohumuhumu and Otanenui are both situated on the headland on lush green land, with stunning, spectacular scenic views. And the Taumarumaru Pa located on the central ridge, has long coastal views from its site.
