Aratiatia Dam - A free activity that opens at 10am, 12noon, 2pm & 4pm everyday – this sight is sure to take your breath away. Huka Falls - This is where the Waikato becomes the Mighty River, head here for a mesmerizing spectacle. Huka Falls Walkway - For the more energetic traveller, try walking to the falls. You could swim at the hot water beach, relax and take in the stunning scenery. Waireki Terraces - Head here for a chance to see a geyser which fills a pool and overflows into a series of terraces. There is also a recreated Māori village where you can treat yourself to a traditional hangi! Opepe Reserve - Another freebie! There are a few walks you could do here, as well as a small cemetery with powerful rimu trees to marvel at. Jet Boat Rides - We recommend Rapid Jet which operates near to the Aratiatia dam. Be prepared to come off exhilarated, if not slightly damp! Hot & Cold - Now this is one that not many visitors get to experience. This is where Kerosene Creek joins with a cold stream, so you have the choice of bathing waters, hot or cold, or anything in between. Click here to view more of our recommendations.
